We all know Halloween 2020 is going to look and feel different. Here's my guide to navigating it with ease!

All posts are based on an episode from the podcast. This one is titled "Halloween 2020 Marketing Guide". Click to listen!

When to start

Increase frequency before, 3 weeks before you can be going full force. September 22nd is the first day of fall so it is recommended not to launch too soon before.

Trends

This year I think we'll see a mystical theme; think tarot cards, constellations, crystals, moons, rich jewel tones.

Pinterest mood board for ✨inspo✨: HERE

Photography/Videography: subtly scary, creepy/warped faces, hidden "ghosts", creepy photographs with a late 90's early 2000's production quality/filter.

Videography/Tik Tok/Youtube: Scary stories (think scary stories to tell in the dark), ghost hunting, haunted house scares, jump scares

Decor: Either extravagant with the aesthetic mentioned above or minimalistic, simple black and white aesthetic.

Costumes: Anything DIY (yay for recycling!), Joe Exotic, Carol Baskin, Jojo Siwa, Schitts Creek, etc., expect a huge spike in streaming service characters and maybe even YouTube-ers!

Masks: I think we're going to see a huge spike in utilizing masks as part of costumes-mask makers! Make masks to go with popular costumes such as Iron Man, Kylie Jenner's lips, or tiger print...for obvious reasons.

Important Days

September 22nd- First Day of Fall

Might be a good starting time to start going full force Halloween if in e-commerce.

Expected to be trending

October 3rd- National Teachers Day & Aaron Samuels Day (if you know, you know)

Great chance to tell your story, build a personal connection with your community. Share a teacher who made an impact on your or your kids, share ways to thank a teacher, share the story of a teacher who has gone out of their way to be fantastic with COVID adjustments, etc.

October 10th- National Costume Swap Day

Great for communities interested in sustainability

October 17th- Sweetest Day

Share about your "sweetie" or push sweets that are maybe healthier for you this Halloween.

October 31st- Halloween

It goes without saying. You know the drill.

November 3rd- Election Day

Something to keep in mind when creating Halloween content, I highly suggest share Voting deadlines, ways to vote, and just general posts of encouragement to vote.

Content Ideas

"Nothing is scarier than..."

Great for pretty much any account.

Examples: "Nothing is scarier than coming home to a flood because the kiddos Halloween costume broke the washer"

"Nothing is scarier than warming your tub for a post-work bath and realizing THERE'S NO BATH BOMBS!"

"Makes sure your insurance covers xyz devils night pranks"

Great for: Residental services, car dealerships, insurance agency's, home improvement

"Hide from Trick-Or-Treaters"

Great for almost any e-commerce team, coaches, & health accounts

Examples: "Trick-or-treating this year is going to look different, it's ok to not feel ok about it, we suggest using the pumpkin bath bomb with @author's new audiobook, "Book Title".

Transition to Thanksgiving

If you don't have to, try to transition slowly, your target audience isn't waking up the day after Halloween with their Christmas tree out (hopefully). Share how to organize, clean, and store your decor, share sneak peeks, try not to launch until 3-5 days after Halloween.
